Our Story
Woolwerx is an artisanal wool studio with a difference. We’re a social enterprise created by the Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver to provide training and employment to marginalized women in BC’s Lower Mainland.
Located in New Westminster, Woolwerx is based on a unique concept: turning donated wool from local shepherds (which is otherwise disposed of as a waste product) into hand-processed wools and yarns.
EFry collaborated with local fibre artist Diana Twiss to build a fibre studio that melds perfectly with its commitment to supporting marginalized women in building sustainable lives. Each Woolwerx employee is provided with full training and fair wage employment.
Launched in 2018, the Woolwerx team is pleased to offer a selection of wools and handspun yarns through our Etsy shop. Each purchase of our small-batch products helps support bright futures for women in our communities.
